A Viking Funeral

October 26, 2022

This winter just got a lot colder

The producers, crew and the Ice Vikings themselves were eager and ready to head out on the ice again this year, but unfortunately our main broadcast partner did not see the value in continuing to explore the unique and dangerous world of commercial ice fishing in Gimli, Manitoba. And so Ice Vikings the series has come to an end.

We’d like to give a big thank you to Manitoba Film & Music, the CMF, our other broadcast partners and our distributors for believing in us and seeing the value in sharing these stories with people all over the world. Ice Vikings spoke to a lot of viewers, as was evident by the strong ratings it continued to get, both here in Canada and around the world.  It was a real home grown success story.

It’s been our pleasure to be out on the ice and show you the lives of the Ice Vikings. We’ve heard from people all over the globe that have been fascinated and in awe of the people on our show - we’ve been in awe of them too. Ice fishing isn’t an easy, or glamorous life, but it is honest work done by good people and we’re sad we can’t continue to share their stories.

While the show will not go on, you can bet that the Vikings will still be out on the ice this year. If you’re in Gimli and see them, give them a big cheer. They are all amazing people and are part of the Farpoint family.

Skol!
