The Canadian indie about stoner crooks looking to pull off a bingo hall robbery had its camera and lighting equipment stolen from a rented truck and trailer on its first day of production in Winnipeg.

Director Stu Stone and producing partner Adam Rodness want you to know that their indie film comedy Vandits — about small-time crooks looking to rob a senior citizens’ bingo hall of its $25,000 jackpot on Christmas Eve — having $250,000 worth of camera and lighting equipment stolen on their first day of shooting was no publicity stunt.

AUGUST 17, 2022Farpoint Films announced today a multi-year first look producing deal with filmmaker Ryan Cooper’s Back to Space Productions.

Under the terms of deal, Farpoint will have a first look at all of Cooper’s new shows with the two companies already working together on many projects including Alter Boys - written and directed by Jonathan Lawrence and produced by Cooper for CBC Gem and going to camera later this month.

Gravitas Ventures has acquired U.S. rights to Lindsay MacKay’s romantic drama The Swearing Jar, starring Adelaide Clemens (Under the Banner of Heaven), Douglas Smith (Don’t Worry Darling), Patrick J. Adams (Prime Video’s A League of Their Own) and Oscar nominee Kathleen Turner (The White House Plumbers). The Anthem Sports & Entertainment Company has slated the film for release on 20 screens in major markets across the country on September 23.
