Production Starts On New Series, Kid Diners

Farpoint Films is pleased to announce that its new series, Kid Diners, commenced production on June 3, 2016. Winnipeg actors Aynalem Plett Martens and Xander Boulard have been cast to host the 13-episode, half-hour, original series and filming will take place across Canada.

In each episode, Aynalem and Xander explore two must-eat-at places in a Canadian locale. One host visits a local mom and pop establishment while the other explores a fine dining restaurant. The hosts sample eateries across the country in this series that shows kids where food comes from.

“We are very excited to have Aynalem and Xander as our hosts for Kid Diners as they are the perfect guides to serve up to kids the kind of food that is available to them across Canada,” said Chris Charney, writer and co-creator of the series at Farpoint Films.

“TVOKids gets kids ready for school and life with content that supports learning both inside and outside the classroom,” said Marney Malabar, Director, Kids TV, TVO. “As a culinary series for kids, Kid Diners teaches children where their food comes from and how to prepare it, visiting chefs across the country. The series helps to set kids up for future success when making good choices about food.”

“We are so proud to have supported the development of this exciting made-in Manitoba project,” said Carole Vivier, Manitoba Film & Music’s CEO & Film Commissioner. “This series will create long-term employment for local crew while educating kids about the culinary arts in fun and creative ways.”

The Kid Diners creative team includes writer/co-creator Chris Charney (The Illegal Eater), director John Barnard (Menorca), producer/co-creator Scott R. Leary (Escape Or Die!), producer Kyle Bornais (Menorca), original music by Mitch Dorge and casting by Kari Casting.

Kid Diners is produced in association with TVO and is scheduled to air on TVO in the spring of 2017 and on tvokids.com.
