Accountant Assistant - Permanent Full-Time
Salary range: $50,000 – $53,000

The Production Accountant Assistant works closely with and under the supervision of the accountants. This role supports the accountants in managing the financial control of multiple non-union film productions to ensure the timely and accurate financial reporting and effective cost management of productions.
Responsibilities:
Support the accountants with their responsibilities such as maintaining records and preparing cost reports.
Prepare weekly production payroll using Sage 50, ensuring time sheets are approved and accurately reflect the correct production.
Process production petty cash ensuring all appropriate authorizations and paperwork have been obtained.
Input supplier invoices on a weekly basis ensuring accuracy in data entry including the proper allocation of expenses to Manitoba labour to support the application of the tax credits.
Communicate with cast and crew and the production manager on a regular basis.
Prepare weekly bank reconciliations.
Prepare monthly inter-company reconciliations.
Prepare ad hoc analysis as required.
The ideal candidate will:

Be able to work with minimal supervision under pressure with strict deadlines.
Possess excellent communication and people skills.

Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in performing all essential duties.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
3+ years of accounting experience.
Knowledge of film production and film accounting is preferred.
Experience with preparing and processing manual payroll is required.
At a minimum, the completion of a bookkeeping and payroll course or diploma is required.
Knowledge of Sage 50 software is preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft suite of programs.
