Winnipeg Burlesque On MTS October 1st, 2009

Filmmaker
John Barnard is more than happy to show Winnipeggers the sexy side to their
city. And that's exactly what the
Manitoba born Director does in his latest film Winnipeg Burlesque which details the rise of exotic dancing manager and Winnipeg
entrepreneur Gladys Balsillie from the late 1960's until her death in
1987. Balsillie was known as the
Queen Of The Burlesque during her 20year career as an agent and manager.
In Barnard's usual style, the documentary swerves
violently between interviews and dramatic reenactments of events that took place in Balsillie's lifetime. Many of the actual locations were used in the filming of the recreations.
Winnipeg Burlesque
premieres on MTS' Video On Demand service starting October 1st, 2009 and is available free-of-charge to MTS subscribers.
