John Barnard's foray into the entertainment industry began at the age of eight when he staged an adaptation of the movie "Airplane!" for his entire third grade class. Later that day in finger painting class, he reflected on the success of his production and resolved to dedicate his life wholeheartedly to telling stories. It was a decision that eventually led to completing a Film Studies degree at the University of Manitoba and opening Farpoint Films Inc.
Barnard has now assembled an impressive body of thought-provoking films as a writer, director, editor, and producer. His films have received over 70 screenings around the world and have gone on to win numerous awards including a plush teddy bear from the Festival Der Nationen. He continues to prove that his work is without limitations, blanketing a variety of genres and themes in his creative and energetic brand of storytelling.
His recent accomplishments include the CTV television projects Uncharted Surveyor: The Peter Fidler Story, Building a Palace on the Prairie, Legacy In Stone, Sierra’s Song and Gorilla Trap.
